Being a parent of an athlete, no matter the age, is a rewarding experience! Seeing your child succeed is a great feeling. However, it can sometimes be difficult to sit in the stands and watch "terrible coach" or "horrible referee" make an impact on the game. As a parent, you have a duty to turn those moments into teaching moments for your child(ren). The game doesn't always go the way you want. One important thing to remember is that officials, coaches, and other players are human too! They make mistakes and should not be harassed for mistakes.
The National Federation of High School Sports has great resources for administrators, coaches, officials, players, and parents. Click here to take a free course from the NFHS, Positive Sport Parenting. If you are interested in other courses and trainings offered from NFHS, click here.
