Ontario Recreation District is teaming up with the Friends of the Owyhee to bring a new outdoor exploration program to life! Nature Explorers will be a program to inspire use of City of Ontario Parks, engage local youth in parks and nature, and enhance their knowledge of the natural world. Program is designed to be an after-school activity, and although school may look different as it starts, we will still run the program during typical "after-school hours".
Once a week through the month of October, parents/guardians will drop off their child at a park in Ontario at 4:00 pm. From 4:00-5:15 pm, the group will go through a lesson and games geared towards learning about science and nature.
This Program is from anyone ages 4-14. Dates will be Tuesdays in October- 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, and November 3rd. An option parent included hike will be added as well on Columbus Day, Monday, October 12th.
NEW- WEDNESDAY SESSION ADDED! If Tuesdays do not work well for you, great news! We have added a Wednesday session as well. Classes will be the same each week, so Tuesday and Wednesday will be receiving the same material and instruction.
October 6th is FREE for everyone. After that, each class is $5 (in district, $8 out of district).
Please remember to bring water to each session. We will have a time for snacks, you can bring your own or we will provide snacks as well (if you have allergies, please let us know or bring your own snacks!).
A list of dates and parks will be emailed as we get closer to starting, please make sure an email is provided on your account. We are so excited for this program, we hope to see you there!
